The 2nd Golden Kite World Song Festival 1986 is organised by TV3 and Malaysian Airlines. 16 songwriters from USA, Germany, Holland, UK, Australlia, Japan and Indonesia participated in the final on 11 January 1986 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The song, “Gempita Dalam Dada”, represented Indonesia and won the 2nd Best Song Award. It was performed by Harvey Malaihollo who walked away with the Best Performer Award.
Since its inception in November 1984 The Golden Kite World Song Festival has been well received and drew songwriters from all over the world to compete. The first festival was telecast over television network in Brunei, Indonesia, Hong Kong and USA.
