The Choir Olympics began in 2000 in the capital of Upper Austria, Linz was the first time in the history of the international choral movement that so many choirs from so many countries gathered to take part in a universal choirs competition. Tens of thousand of singers and visitors from all over the world transformed the European Capital of Culture into a world metropolis of choral singing.
More than 15 000 participants from 60 nations participated at the “Choir Olympics 2000” from 7 to 16 July. More than 350 choirs from all continents have registered for this unique celebration of music in Linz,
Elfa’s Singers and Elfa’s Ethnic Choir lead by Mr. Elfa Secioria were crowned as The World Champion at The International Choir Olympic Champion.
